Sam Dunklau ’17 earned the award for overall excellence in professional radio from the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Dunklau interned as a news reporter at WVIK 90.3 FM, Quad Cities NPR, based on Augustana’s campus.

Repairs to Slough begin; college plans improvements

City workers arrived this morning to begin repairs to the Slough on campus, which was drained after a pipe under it collapsed about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

A drainage pipe beneath the slough on campus failed Saturday morning. As a result, water from the slough was released down-campus, which resulted in water damage in many areas.

Augustana junior outfielder Carter Amundsen is the 166th student-athlete in Augustana history to win Academic All-America honors.

Diploma and a national title, all in one week

Marckus Simmons graduated with a degree in biology from Augustana College on a Sunday and a few days later  he truly put the hammer down, winning an NCAA national title.

Ten students receive awards for international study and summer programs

Dr. Dan Lee, professor of religion, and his wife, Ruth Lee, established the Excellence in the Liberal Arts Award, which provides Augustana students with $400-$4,000 for international study or summer programs in the humanities.

Inaugural business plan competition awards $14,000

Augustana’s Department of Business Administration held its inaugural Rogers Business Plan Competition this spring. The Howard and Helen Rogers Entrepreneurial Endowment provided the funds for prizes of $7,000, $4,500 and $2,500 for the first-, second- and third-place teams, respectively.

Augustana holds second annual robotics competition

Seven teams from Augustana College, Knox College and St. Ambrose University went head-to-head in the second annual Augustana Invitational Robotics Challenge in early May. Teams from Augustana won first and third place, while a St. Ambrose team took home second.
