Tutoring

The Learning Commons provides free appointment and drop-in tutoring with trained peers to help you succeed in your courses.

Sessions will be hosted in-person or online. You can make an individual appointment through Starfish or check out our drop-in schedule at the bottom of the page. Please see our step-by-step instructions for how to make or cancel a tutoring appointment.

All tutoring will be held weeks 2-14 during the fall and spring semesters. No tutoring will be available during summer or J-term. During fall 2024, sessions will be held from Sunday, Sept. 8, to Friday, Dec. 6. Sessions will not be held during Fall Break (Friday, Oct. 18-Monday, Oct. 21) and Thanksgiving Break (Tuesday, Nov. 26-Dec. 1).

Courses offered

Depending on the course, we may only offer individual appointments, but some courses with a high demand also offer drop-in sessions where you can come and go as you like. Please see the list below for complete offerings. Review our instructions for how to make or cancel a tutoring appointment before signing into Starfish.

French, Latin and Spanish: 100s, 200s and select 300-level courses. Appointment only.

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so with at least 24 hours' notice using the Starfish system. Please review our instructions for how to make or cancel a tutoring appointment.

Drop-in tutoring schedule

At drop-in sessions, you can come and go as you like. Several tutors are available, so you often can get individual attention when you need it, or just work with others knowing that tutors are nearby to answer questions. During fall 2024, sessions will be held from Sunday, Sept. 8, to Friday, Dec. 6. Sessions will not be held during Fall Break (Friday, Oct. 18-Monday, Oct. 21) and Thanksgiving Break (Tuesday, Nov. 26-Dec. 1).
