Nominate a student for NCLS 2025 by Sept. 18

Faculty may now nominate students to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy's National Character & Leadership Symposium (NCLS) 2025. The theme is "Warrior Ethos as Airmen and Guardians." Speakers will include distinguished scholars, military leaders, entrepreneurs, corporate executives and world-class athletes.

The event takes place Feb. 20-21, 2025 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. This opportunity also includes travel time on Feb. 19 and 22.

There is no cost to the students. Registration and lodging are covered by the Air Force Academy; students will room in AFA dormitories with cadets and eat in the cafeteria. Funding is needed to cover the costs of flights to and from Colorado Springs for the participants. If your department would be able to contribute to the travel costs of a student participant, please contact Lina Zhou.

The symposium will accept up to four students from a single institution, with an overall limit of 200 students accepted. The registration opens at the beginning of October but the spots fill up fast.

In nominating students, consider who you think would benefit from the symposium and positively represent Augustana College at the Academy (preferably sophomores and juniors, so that they can apply some of what they learn to their future activities at Augustana). We will then contact the students to see if they are interested and available on the dates of the symposium, and ask them to fill out a brief application form, submit a current resume and write a brief essay about why they should be chosen to attend the symposium.

To nominate a student, email Lina Zhou by Wednesday, Sept. 18.
