Kivisto '04 compares gun laws, fatalities
Dr. Aaron Kivisto '04 finds that U.S. citizens living in states with the weakest gun laws are more than twice as likely to be fatally shot by police compared to those living in states with the strongest gun laws.
He is an assistant professor in the college of applied behavioral sciences at the University of Indianapolis.
The forensic and clinical psychologist also maintains a private practice in Indianapolis. He has a master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Tennessee.
In the study, Dr. Kivisto and his colleagues examined more than 1,800 fatal police shootings that occurred between January 2015 and October 2016.
