Francophone Film Festival weekly Feb. 10-March 5
The annual Francophone Film Festival at Augustana will screen a film each Thursday from Feb. 10-March 5.
All films are free and open to the public. Films begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Olin Center on campus.

Feb. 10: Portrait of a Lady on Fire
This 2019 French historical romantic drama is set in France in the late 18th century. Young painter Marianne is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Hélo?se without her knowing. Therefore, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night. Day by day, the two women become closer as they share Hélo?se's last moments of freedom before the impending wedding. Feb. 17: The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec
This 2010 French fantasy adventure feature loosely is based on a comic book series that focuses on a popular novelist and her dealings with would-be suitors, the cops, monsters and other distractions.

Feb. 24: Bag of Marbles
Based on a WWII autobiographical novel, the film tells the story of Maurice and Joseph, two young Jewish brothers in France left to their own devices who demonstrate cleverness, courage, and ingenuity to escape the enemy invasion and to try to reunite. (IMDB description)

March 3: Samba
In this 2014 French comedy-drama, Samba, who migrated to France 10 years ago from Senegal, has since been plugging away at various lowly jobs. Alice is a senior executive who has recently undergone a burn-out. Both struggle to get out of their dead-end lives. Samba's willing to do whatever it takes to get working papers, while Alice tries to get her life back on track until fate draws them together. (IMDB description)
